David Tay - Since tuesday, I have been thinking of a lot of ideas I never got to express. I'm sure that many others feel the same way so this thread will serve as a voice for the people who didn't speak up in the open discussion on tuesday.
The points on enviromental sustainability I really want to focus on are
-A proper sanitary system for small local communities- Obiously, it would be beyond our super-powers to provide a toilet and shower in every home, but I feel that eventhough Shanghai's extensive sewer system provides most locals their plumbing, their "WCs" are not up to "hygenic standards"--by which I mean you don't have to hold your breath for 10 minutes to go poo-poo. I suggest creating a hygenic cleaning area for the local community. What this means, i'm not too sure, but it ranges from having a communal restroom that are automatic flushing, to having hand disinfectants in everyone's toilet.
-Drinkable/"unleaded" water- I'm sure this is a very attainable goal. If we can provide one village with a water purifing system. The issue i have with this is the Chinese government. Tampering with the pipelines would be ILLEGAL so in this case, our only job is to funraise a million-ish yuan to buy that salubrious solution.

Mel C - although i would really like to see clean public toilets all over shanghai, i think it;s better if we focus on people with more dire needs, like a village in rural China with no hot water or plumbing whatsoever.
i liek the unleaded water idea hahha but i dont think we can raise a million- ish yuan hahaha Quote and ReplyPost a Reply Do you find this valuable?
